How are contest winners decided?
By default, animations are ranked according to a special animation score. However, the contest judges may step in to change the rankings at any time, especially towards the end of a contest.
How does the animation score work?
The animation score uses an algorithm combining popularity and quality. This includes Editor's Picks, Likes, Views, how many times the animation has been Favorited, etc. The algorithm also favors newer animations.
Why are newer animations favored?
Sketch Star's experienced artists have contributed a massive amount of creativity to our community, but some users feel that their popularity makes it too difficult for new artists to get noticed. Favoring new animations in topics and contests gives new artists and fresh animations a better chance of being noticed and winning awards.
Can I submit multiple animations to the same contest?
Yes, as long as all entries are relevant to the contest theme.
Can I submit an animation to more than one contest?
Yes, as long as the animation is relevant to the contest themes.
What happens if an artist has more than one winning animation at the end of a contest?
That artist would receive an award for each winning animation. However, this would be unusual, because the judges prefer 3 different winners in each contest.

Before you start on the beautiful details of your animation, try drawing a simple outline. This way, you can get the overall composition looking great, and you can make sure everything's going to fit in the frame! Once you're filling in the details, you can start deleting your outline if you don't need it any more.
